‘Big Blue’, the recently launched 2017 collection from Kikidoll, was previewed by invitation in Miami during the annual South Beach swim week held in July.
Casting back to carefree beach days spent in Honolulu, and on the more woolly, rugged North Shore of Oahu, when the call of the big, rolling blue waves of the great Pacific that surrounds Hawaii summoned the founder of Kikidoll, Kikidoll’s latest collection captures the essence of a Hawaiian island-hopping, 70's surfer chic vibe. Mixing faded and soft watery prints in every shade of blue--from aquamarine to seafoam to inky navy--with touches of nude skin pink and coral, Kikidoll’s 2017 collection features prints of ocean reef scenes, an 'underwater love' fest of fish, sea weeds and corals; oversized monstera leaves layered in aqueous shades and Polynesian tribal motifs in inky blues found in the depths of the Pacific.
Silhouettes are sleek and fit like second skin in silky imported Lycra, Glideskin neoprene and French Terry, all sporting the Kikidoll trademark tropical prints, edged or piped with 70's hippie hallmark touches like crochet, lacings or tassels. Kikidoll's customary crop top rashies and hip-laced beach hipster trousers help to invoke the laid-back 70’s style of the beaches of Waikiki for taking the boho look from beach to bistro.
Kikidoll is proudly featured in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit for six consecutive years-- SI Swimsuit 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 and 2011. Kikidoll is also seen in SELF, FOAM, Surfing Magazine, Surfing Magazine Swimsuit, SurfGirl and other monthly magazines.
